President’s Message

It is my pleasure to be President of the Stayner Chamber of Commerce for the forth year. For those that do not know me, I am a Certified General Accountant, semi-retired. I am one of the owners of Huronia Auto Wreckers and Recycling Limited. We have lived in the community since 1984. I have been involved in the community as a volunteer for almost all those years, through Stayner Lions, Stayner Fair Board, Stayner Minor Sports, and Centennial United Church holding various positions in each. I am a great supporter of our Blood Donors clinic having given 90+ times.

The reason I’ve been involved in the chamber is that I believe that a community is only as strong as the businesses that operate in it. Our community, as in most, is made up of many sole proprietors and small partnerships covering all areas of interest from the homeowners looking to upgrade into a larger home, buy groceries or hardware to those looking for something to do with our various arts and supplies stores.

We would like to thank everyone, from the small shops who return their hard-earned money into the local economy to the large-scale operations who donate year after year in support of the social, arts and cultural events including our Music in the Park in it 14th season. We need a strong and involved business community because that is the engine that keeps a town vibrant and successful.

By the same token, a Chamber of Commerce is only as strong as the members that make it up. Your board of directors is selected from and by you to represent you, however, we need each and everyone to help make our community a better place to live and a place where visitors will come and come back to possibly to live.

We are only a small group and can’t be everywhere at once you are the eyes and ears of our organization, so please never be shy about reaching out, offer your suggestions, and get involved.

The Chamber is all of us; we need you, Shop Local.

John Squire, President
Stayner Chamber of Commerce
